Title:

Getting Ready

I play a lot of rolls with Bucknum Racing, from writing many of his press releases, handling some logistics and media efforts, to even manning the pit board in two of his IndyCar events last year including the Indy 500. I have to tell you that being next to the track with 33 cars whizzing by at 230 MPH, separated by a shallow wall of about 18” on concrete is a heart stopping experience.

But to be part of a team supporting a driver I have known for so long is a thrill. Jeff and I spoke so many years ago about going to Indy and to see it come to fruition last year was beyond a thrill.Another long time supporter of Jeff, George Giles is one of two spotters at Indy for Jeff, acting as an extra set of eyes from high above turn three and advising Jeff of traffic he is about to encounter.

This Sunday Jeff will be joined by many of his family for his second Indy effort. Suzanne, his mom Nancy, and many others will be there to experience the thrill of this big event. Many others will huddle by TV to follow the events. Jeff’s car number is #92 and the car is white with red highlights. If you are watching from home you might enjoy it more by also having a computer aimed at live timing and scoring. You can find that at www.indyracing.com.

Now it is time to sit back, say a little prayer, get excited, and root for our favorite driver.
